A safety net that still works when the network doesn't.

Strand is a private, encrypted messaging app with a safety layer built into every conversation. It already flags self-harm risk, alerts emergency contacts, and gives people a way out of unsafe situations. The next phase introduces proximity relaying and SOS tapping, turning local devices into a resilient offline fallback network when cell towers or internet drop. Built first for disaster response—and just as critical for personal safety anywhere connection is compromised.

Why now

Disasters and unsafe situations share the same failure point.

The network goes down first

The Philippines sees around 20 typhoons a year. Cell towers and internet are usually the first thing to fail, right when people most need to reach each other.

Safety apps assume a connection

Most personal safety features rely on the same signal that just went out. If there's no signal, there's no alert.

Some situations need quiet

Someone in an unsafe home or relationship may not be able to make a loud, visible call for help. A quiet, low-signature way to signal distress can matter more than a loud one.

Live today

Strand already works, and the safety layer is built in, not bolted on.

Strand is built for close relationships (a couple, a family, or a small trusted squad), not broad social networking. Every space has its own privacy rules, and the moderation and safety systems run underneath every conversation, automatically.

Create Space screen
Spaces built around real relationshipsCouple, Squad (up to 50), and Family (up to 50), each with its own privacy rules.
Couple space prompt
Mutual Dissolve LockA couple space can't be closed by one partner alone. Both sides have to agree.
Loyalty alert
Loyalty alertsAn existing partner is notified if someone tries to create or join a second couple space.
Private space
Privacy SpaceA squad space that looks ordinary to everyone in it except its creator, and quietly closes itself after a set window.
Message flagging
Automatic moderationMessages showing signs of self-harm surface a helpline and quietly notify emergency contacts. Harassment gets flagged, censored, and strikes toward account removal.
The roadmap

Phase 1 is live. This funding builds Phase 2.

Phase 1 · Live now

The full app, already working

  • Encrypted messaging, calls, and Spaces (Couple, Squad, Family)
  • Self-harm detection and emergency contact alerts
  • Sealed Spaces, Safe Entry decoy PIN, and biometric app lock
  • Safehold, private document storage separate from chat
  • Full reporting and moderation system
Phase 2 · What this funding builds

SOS Tapping and proximity relay

  • A rhythmic tap pattern triggers an SOS, no need to unlock the screen and dial
  • With signal: emergency contacts are notified immediately with a live location
  • Without signal: the SOS relays device-to-device through nearby Strand users until reaching cellular connection
  • Built first as a disaster-resilient fallback layer, and just as useful for personal safety anywhere a connection can't be trusted
₱5,000,000
Phase 1 ask (about $86,200), to build SOS Tapping, finish Pro, and launch
~12.5%
Equity offered for the full raise, on a ₱35M pre-money valuation
₱500,000
Recommended minimum ticket (about $8,600, roughly 1.25% equity)

Most of this raise goes straight into scaling development, security auditing, and expanding the core technical team. Founder effort already invested into Strand (420+ execution hours to date) is excluded from this ask.

About the founder

Behind Strand

I'm Kwenee, founder and product architect at Antas Labs. Leveraging modern AI-assisted engineering workflows, I rapidly prototyped and deployed Strand from initial concept to a functional Phase 1 architecture in under 450 hours.

My focus is building resilient, high-impact software. With Phase 1 proven and operational, this raise allows us to onboard dedicated senior engineering leads, conduct rigorous security and cryptographic audits, and scale Strand's offline mesh infrastructure.
